Colonies is a futuristic action tactical game (with elements of cRPG and strategy) dedicated to multiplayer gameplay (although the creators included the possibility of a one-person game with bots), created by the hitherto unknown team AcidStorm Entertainment, whose members were previously engaged in creating amateur mods for Half-Life. The action takes place in the distant future, when on the edge of our solar system a space gap was discovered, which allowed the transport of giant ships over long distances, and thus, the discovery and colonization of new planets. As our planet was almost completely exhausted from all natural resources, each one of the Earth's countries, as if after the discovery of America, started to occupy as fast as possible new and rich in resources planets. Naturally, the rivalry led to the outbreak of the global war. The player has the opportunity to look at the conflict from the perspective of a soldier. Authors define their creation as follows it is a real-time strategy, where the player plays the role of a combat unit taking part in missions with tactically defined goals, and in order to successfully complete the mission, close cooperation of all players in one team is required. Interestingly, between tasks (matches) players from different teams decide by voting what new technology they want to invent and then use it in combat. For example, you can invent a weapon with a greater force, or a device that will allow engineers from the team to move to the place where our damaged vehicle is located. The guarantee of both a good visual appearance and efficient online gameplay (/- 30 players in one team) is the use of the Torque engine, which is the same as the well-known game Tribes 2. In Colonies we will meet three types of characters, i.e. female/male Soldier, female/male Engineer and Riftwalker. There are about 30 different types of weaponry at our disposal. At the beginning the team has only conventional weapons, such as assault rifles, lasers or grenades. However, as new technological discoveries are made, the available arsenal increases and, in addition, depending on the development path chosen by each team, two weapons of the same type may have completely different parameters and properties. In addition to handguns, players can also use vehicles, build shooting towers, solar cells and other activities to increase the team's capabilities.
