Game description:
Bleak Faith: Forsaken is an open world brutal action RPG with elements of horror. The gameplay, observed from the third person perspective (TPP), is strongly inspired by soulslike games, and its atmosphere resembles a combination of cyberpunk and dark fantasy. Two independent artists, Miso Vuk?evi? and Mirko Stani?, are responsible for the game development. Their project was originally released on PCs. Plot The player takes control of a warrior whose history begins in one of the last outposts of Forsaken, a legion of hunters, assigned to protect a doomed humanity. No one knows the true nature of their fight and journey through vast, dark lands. The protagonist, left alone, must adapt quickly to the situation and set out into the unknown to confront the Omnistructure monsters that await him. As he goes into ever more distant corners of the world, he slowly begins to understand the true meaning of alienation, isolation and piercing fear. Mechanics Bleak Faith offers an advanced character class system. Among the available types are Vanguard and Jaeger each type of hero has different individual abilities and a different fighting style (the representative of one class is more likely to use cold weapons, while the next one will use the bow and arrows more efficiently in battles). Fights are one of the main components that set the pace of the game, so they are fierce and meticulously developed. The combat system is very complex, and defeating an enemy is not easy. A player can decide how to fight against the dangerous creatures he can either attack the enemy from hiding, while keeping a distance, or face them in a close combat. It is up to him whether he considers Technomancy to be more effective or whether he uses one of the more traditional combat styles. It is also up to him to decide whether it is worth fighting at all or whether it is more sensible to withdraw. The class and skills of the protagonist also influence the choices. The game is planned for at least thirty hours of gameplay and is based primarily on exploring the vast world and fighting against different types of enemies. The gameplay area presented in Bleak Faith resembles a labyrinth, and each of its parts contains unique content and challenges. Despite the open world, there are still more linear game sectors (especially those related to the main story points) that provide the player with a specific goal. Thanks to the procedural Artificial Intelligence system, each of the subsequent games played anew also proceeds differently, maintaining a feeling of curiosity and uncertainty in the player every time he or she encounters another unexplored location. There are several shelters in the world where the player can go to to find a bit of peace. These places are usually bases where players can reduce their strength after a long journey and prepare for further expeditions and skirmishes. Bases have different degrees of complexity and, although serving as asylum, vigilance is still required. There is also the possibility of improving the specific areas to make them both more visually attractive and more useful to the player. The feeling of confusion is intensified by the simulated faction and SI group system. The inhabitants of Omnistructure fight not only against the hero himself, but also compete with each other, trying to expand their influence on new areas, at the same time changing and adapting to the prevailing conditions in a given zone the food chain created in the previous play may take a completely different form on the next approach to the game (a predator, associated by the player with a particular area, may not appear in the next game). Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version) The race against time therefore involves not only the player-led hero but also his enemies trying to outsmart each other. The task of the player is therefore to constantly develop his character and to hunt other creatures that are prowling in the world in order to stay at the top of the food chain. During the fight, the player may lose certain body parts, but this does not result in an immediate end to the game. A hero can still continue to attack or defend himself, the only thing that limits him at any given moment is time there is a possibility of death by bleeding. The severed limbs do not grow back but can be replaced by specially prepared prostheses. There is also a crafting available in the game, allowing you to create the desired equipment from hundreds of elements, which allow you to design fully individual weapons, shields, equipment and other items of equipment. Constant development of the character is the basis, the choice of the hero's class is not enough, what counts is constantly updating the statistics, increasing skills, designing better and better equipment and keeping the warrior in perfect condition and health. The player must hunt, resist attacks from enemies, use the hiding places and opportunities offered by the environment. Fighting is not always the right thing to do, but if it is impossible to avoid it, the player must know how to adapt the battlefield to the tactics he has chosen in order to have the best chance of winning. If a player is tired of travelling alone in the world of Omnistructure, he can always count on the companion, equipped with his own voice and unique personality, whose design is based on the appearance of the player's led character. Game modes The game is played in single player mode, however, there is also a PVP Duel Arena variant available, where the player has the opportunity to test his skills in PvP combat. He can also switch to hardcore mode, where the loser gets rid of all his equipment and the winner gains it. Technical aspects The game has pleasant three-dimensional graphics, maintained in toned down, cold colours. Its design brings to mind both the games of the FromSoftware studio and the games in the Warhammer 40000 universe. Cal Freundlich (who is the main composer) and Rade Vuk?evi? took care of the audio setting that enriched the gameplay. Other information A book by Mi?o Vuk?evi? is available, featuring a large number of graphic works devoted to Bleak Faith from the time when it was still a graphic novel, as well as from the time of work on the game. The book also outlines motivations, inspirations, as well as other topics that may prove useful not only for players but also for all interested ones.
