Terra Nil is an interesting strategy and puzzle game based on original "reverse city builder" rules. During the game we don't build cities, but we restore life on the wastelands. The project was developed by Free Lives studio, which has in its portfolio the warmly welcomed Broforce (although initially only three independent developers worked on it, who released its first version on Itch.io platform), while its release was handled by Devolver Digital. MechanicsIn Terra Nil the action was shown in isometric view. The game takes place slowly, on procedurally generated wastelands located in different regions. The first move we should make after the start of the challenge is to put up a windmill to generate electricity and to build an infrastructure to irrigate the soil. This allows us to get rid of pollution from the land, on which the first plants begin to grow with time. Then we can take on more complex tasks, such as restoring biodiversity, regulating the local climate or finally bringing in wild animals. Of course, all this requires putting up appropriate structures and feeding them. Once the newly created ecosystem begins to teem with life, there's nothing left for us but to move on to the next wilderness. But before we can do that, we need to remove and recycle all the buildings we have constructed. Technical aspectsThe graphic design of Terra Nil is kept in a pleasant to the eye, colorful, cartoon style. The gameplay takes place to the accompaniment of nature sounds and a peaceful soundtrack.
