Game description:
Battleship is an attempt to transfer to the screen a monitor known from the school bench game of ships. The main difference from the classic version is that it contains some interesting innovations (rather impossible to implement on a piece of paper) and allows you to play with your opponent's computer. The board is rather unusual, 15x19 fields, which gives a total of 285 squares to fire. We start the game, of course, with the location of the ships there are eight of them, which differ in size. The ships can be laid both vertically and horizontally, which is interesting all of them can come into contact with the edges. In addition to the ships, the player also deploys eight minutes. If the computer hits any of them during its turn, it loses the possibility of further firing, as is the case with you. The right game is based on systematic shooting of the opponent's field. Initially you have only one blow, if you manage to sink any enemy ship, you gain another one (in total you can have eight). The computer keeps statistics visible at the top of the screen at all times. They indicate, among other things, the total number of shots taken and the percentage of marksmanship. It is based on them that you can get to the list of the best results. The visual setting does not impress while the ships themselves look very bearable, the graphic symbols of hits on their hulls and hits on the water are made tragically. With a long fight, the board looks very unreadable. It also annoys the small degree of the opponent's computer intelligence. Your rival uses a scheme: he hits systematically every two squares until he is able to sink all the ships. There is no question of any blind shot in another part of the field, which significantly impoverishes the gameplay and makes it boring in the long run. The biggest drawback, however, is the lack of inclusion of the gameplay options for two people. An ordinary "hotseat" would be enough to significantly increase the value of this program.
