WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role is a sequel to a sports game released a few months earlier. The devs have expanded the content by adding new modes, types of matches, fighters and introducing many minor improvements to combat mechanics and visuals. Mechanics The players have now twice as many fighters representing the World Wrestling Federation at their disposal as in the original. Over sixty athletes, including Triple H, Steve Austin, X-Pac, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Kane, Buh Buh Ray Dudley, and The Rock are present in the game. Each of them has its own unique entry sequence, special attacks, and characteristic taunts. The devs have prepared a dozen or so different types of matches in which two to even four wrestlers can participate at the same time. The battles take place in different places and with different rules. Some enable us to use objects in the fight against opponents, while others take place in a cage or a car park. Developed by Yuke, the combat mechanics are based on simple formula, but at the same time, it enable us to develop our own fighting style after exploring their secrets. Players have a long list of attacks, both normal punches and leg attacks, as well as throws and tricks, which are available after entering a key combination. They can also use counterattacks and inrun strikes or attacks with available objects such as posts, tables or ropes. Game modes WWF SmackDown! 2 offers several game modes. The basic is the Season, during which the wrestler led by the players participates in a subsequent gala and related events, trying to win the championship belts. The game is diversified by various random events occurring from time to time. New characters are unlocked for subsequent successes and won matches. The devs have also prepared a wide range of editors, in which the players can create their own athlete, taunt or competition from many available elements. WWF SmackDown! 2 enables up to four players to have fun on a shared screen. Technical aspects Yuke's game offers rich content for wrestling fans and WWF federation.
