Control: AWE is the second addition to Control, an action game released in August 2019. The development of the expansion is the responsibility of the Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment, creators of Quantum Break, Alan Wake and the first two installments of the Max Payne series. DLC requires a basic version of the game to work. Plot In Control: AWE, we once again play the role of Jesse Faden, the protagonist of the main game. The director of the Federal Bureau of Control must go to the Investigations Sector to find a mysterious creature who has long been sitting in a closed and abandoned area. To regain control of this sector, Faden is investigating a number of Altered World Events, including one from Alan Wake's famous Bright Falls. Control: AWE is the first "crossover" event as part of the Remedy Connected Universe and combines the Control storyline with another Remedy Entertainment studio game, Alan Wake. MechanicsIn DLC we go to the lost sector; the devs took care of a lot of small details making the location more atmospheric. A new weapon called Surge is helpful in the Jesse Faden mission, which is a grenade launcher with sticky bullets. It allows you to remotely detonate up to four explosives, sowing destruction among Hiss. This weapon is also useful for the extermination of a new kind of enemy the Hiss Airborne Ranger, which shoots her from a deadly rifle, staying in the air. In addition, the DLC offers new side missions, modifications, costume for Jesse and a mysterious power object resembling an arcade slot machine. It allows you to recreate four boss fights from the basic Control version, including repeating the Ashtray Maze, and playing in previously unavailable Horde mode. Together with Control: AWE, the producer prepared a free update, which brought, among other things, new skills improvements and additional checkpoints in more difficult moments of the feature campaign. Technical aspectsControl: AWE retains the style and graphics quality of the main game, developed on Northlight Engine. The devs have not been tempted to make any changes in the visual setting.
