Life of Pixel, released PC and WiiU, is a 2D retro-style platformer and a kind of sentimental journey through the history of 8 and 16-bit computers and consoles. The game was developed by Super Icon. Plot In Life of Pixel, we play as a friendly green hero named Pixel, who moves to the magical world of classic video games. The game is a classic platformer and the gameplay boils down to exploring over a hundred stages, filled with various traps, opponents and mega-bosses. Mechanics During the game, we discover a whole lot of secret places and gadgets, such as jetpacks, flying bubbles, trampolines, skateboards and even planes. Thanks to this, our protagonist is gradually gaining newer and newer skills, allowing him, among others, to eliminate his opponents with cannon shots or blast walls with bombs. There are also elixirs, temporarily increasing the hero's abilities. We also collect diamonds scattered on the levels, thanks to which, as the game progresses, we can unlock access to other classic consoles. These include legends such as Amiga, SNES, Mega Drive, Apple II, Game Boy, NES, Atari 2600, ZX Spectrum and Master System. Technical aspects The graphics in Life of Pixel which in this case are quite understandable resemble games played in the 80s and 90s of the last century. Life of Pixel is full of references to such classics as Mega Man, Zelda, Castlevania, Metroid, Pitfall, Sonic or Prince of Persia. The soundtrack was composed by leading chiptune artists such as Eric Shumaker, Gavin Harrison, Rob Lynch, Ashton Morris and others.
