Competitions can be conducted alone or with the participation of another person. Players play on a split screen, interrupting each other in getting to the last railway station. It is also worth mentioning that the X-Treme Express contains some interesting arcade mini-games, such as stopping a damaged locomotive. The visual setting of the game is very simplified, which can be seen in particular in the poor environment. The struggles are observed from several different shots, among others from the inside of a locomotive or a camera hanging over a rushing rolling stock.
